Different NAMM, Same Name

January 16th, 2004- Day 1
By RoarMary Rattray
Being the first adventure for the new year, NAMM was definitely the perfect head start. Once
RoseMary found out that our fellow Sheep Mafia buddy, John Dolmayan, wasn't going to be at
the NAMM Day we were planning to go to, RoseMary and Sheep Mafia slave Lori decided to go
inspect as well as prepare for the big day. We arrived with nothing: no ID, no badge, and no
Sheep Mafia supplies. The event closed at 5pm, overdoing our fashionably late entrance we
arrived at 4:55pm. They didn’t even stop or check us when we went through ID check, probably
since it was practically over. We sprinted across the whole exhibition center hoping to meet
ANYONE. We spotted Sheep Mafia buddy Beatleguise who told us one of Sheep Mafia's
greatest legends, Serj Tankian, was nearby. We frantically searched every corner, but knowing
we've been cursed from meeting Serj we never found him... (Ozzfest 02-met the whole band
BUT Serj, SOAD Benefit show with RHCP- talked to Serj for a second claiming he would come
back... were still waiting for him, Grocery Strikers benefit- he stood less than 3 ft away from us
for around an hour, a backstage security entrance was our only obstacle...). Beside that we
never let down and met up with the Lit fellows, they were kind as always. The show was over 30
minutes ago, the lights were off but they didn’t stop us. We got to meet the walking corpse of
Joe Strummer which was kinda strange. On our way out we spotted Fieldy who was still
signing, he was kinda creepy and scary. We never met John Dolmayan even though he was our
reason of going, it was definitely still worth it. Prepared for the next big day, we reluctantly left
for home.

January 17th, 2004- Day 2
By Angela Wolf Pham
We didn’t expect it to meet the level as last year, but it did!  We used the same name tags as last
year, once again we were Thung and Thang Tran, we just changed the year.  When we got
through the doors, we were scared they were gonna notice.  They even asked to have a closer
look at our badge.  They let us through though.  Everything looked the same.  First thing we did
was go to the guitar section.  We saw Tripp from Static X signing, and he actually remembered
us….after the 20 times we saw him before. Michael Anthony was signing, but we missed him,
roar was sad. We found out that Dave Navarro, John Tempesta and, Shavo were all signing at
the same time, so we couldn’t decide which one to go to! We ended up missing two of the three
we were suppose to see since we couldn't find anyone.  Well, we did see Shavo though, that’s
the 6th time.  And he DID recognize us.  It was really awkward, because he had so many friends
that it was hard to talk to him.  We asked him if we could ask him three questions for an
interview, and he agreed.  We busted out our camera, and our first question was “If you could
be an animal, which animal would you  be?” At first he said a giraffe or something then he said
a tiger. He made a funny face.  Then a swarm of his friends came in and we just stood there
awkwardly, planning our next question. In the middle of our interview he decided to go get
some drinks, and invited us to join, being 15 we said no, but he told us to follow anyways. As he
started walking away, we followed but then we just ran and left.  Hahaha it was really
embarrassing how he just walked away during our “interview”.  We ran and hoped we wouldn’t
see him again, ever.  That Shavo, always running away (flashback: ozzfest[family crisis],
warped tour[ jumping jacks away from us], SOAD benfit show with RHCP [driving away in his
car, his dad was waiting]…)  After that sad event, we ate. We spotted the whole band Korn
signing, and snuck in line. Fortunately, Munky remembered RoseMary from a Subway
encounter and allowed a photo. After chasing Johnathan Davis we spotted Jeremy Popoff from
Lit again who we saw the day before. After that fiasco, we met Tripp at this booth
whatchamacallit.  We stayed there for about 10 minutes waiting for fellow band member, Tony,
who we also met. After that we headed home, we saw the Kerry King from Slayer again and also
the nerdy guy from Average Joe Hawaii II.  He smelled.  When we got home, Rosemary
realized that the camera was broken (the one we filmed the interview on!).  We are currently
taking donations for our new camera fund.

NOTE: The important people (Shavo, Paul Stanely, Michael Anthony, etc, and those also who
were also photographed) were mostly recorded by video camera which was unfortunately lost
due to crappy camcorders. As much as you care, we're just as angry.
